Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Charisma Ardelia comes from a long line of women rooted in the city’s historic 9th Ward. Her understanding of community, culture, and creative expression began long before she entered the music and entertainment industry.

While attending college, Charisma began developing her creative instincts through visual merchandising at a small boutique. What started as a role focused on visual presentation quickly evolved into an opportunity to produce experiences, eventually leading her to become the boutique’s Head of Events.

Charisma began using the boutique’s events to spotlight friends and emerging creatives throughout New Orleans. Many of the artists around her were creating meaningful work but struggled to find visibility because their sound, style, or perspective didn’t always align with what was commercially popular at the time.

Rather than seeing that as a limitation, she saw an opportunity.

“I’ve always had a versatile friend group, especially within the music and art scenes in New Orleans. A lot of them had incredible projects, but it was difficult for their work to get recognized because they weren’t necessarily creating what was popular at the time. I wanted to give them their flowers, celebrate the longevity of their artistry, and put them in rooms with people who could appreciate their work and help create opportunities for what came next.”

Through producing events, building relationships, and connecting creatives across disciplines, Charisma cultivated a growing network of artists, musicians, filmmakers, designers, and cultural creatives across New Orleans and New York.

What began as a desire to give her friends a platform evolved into a career centered around creative production, artist development, cultural programming, live entertainment, and connection.

Today, Charisma is the founder of The Chakra Collective, where she continues to build the kind of spaces she once wished existed for the artists around her: spaces where talent can be discovered, celebrated, developed, and connected to new opportunities.
